Jaume Plensa’s “Echo” in Madison Square Park, NYC

Everyone who passed by stopped and stared. In the myth, Narcissus rejects Echo’s profession of love in the forest. She cries until she turns to stone. This statue didn’t register as female or male, but made me feel instantly more calm, more serene. It looks stretched and almost digitally inserted into the green space.
